At Badge & Wallet, we take the responsibility of selling public safety badges seriously. The badges we sell are heraldic insignia rather than official identification documents, but we recognize that badges bearing law enforcement titles, agency names, and other official-looking elements can convey an impression of authority.
To help reduce the risk of unauthorized purchases, we screen every badge order placed through BadgeAndWallet.com to determine whether identification is required before production.
How does Badge & Wallet screen badge orders?
Our screening process evaluates the wording, titles, symbols, and overall design of each badge.
We look for language that may indicate an official position, such as "Police," "Sheriff," or "Law Enforcement." We also review agency names, center seals, and other design elements that may identify a government agency, public safety organization, transportation authority, educational institution, healthcare organization, or other official entity.
Rather than relying solely on specific words, we consider the overall appearance and context of the badge to determine whether it may represent an official position or affiliation.
What happens when an order requires verification?
If your order needs verification, you will receive an email from our ID Verification Team with instructions for submitting the required documentation through our secure verification process.
You will need to provide two forms of identification:
- Official agency identification showing your affiliation with the organization represented on the badge.
- Government-issued photo identification to confirm your identity relevant order information.
When submitting your identification, you'll also be asked to confirm a few things:
- Your documents are genuine, current, unaltered, and belong to you
- You will comply with applicable laws regarding the possession and use of the items purchased
- You have obtained the necessary permission and authority to make the purchase.
If you're uncomfortable submitting your identification documents, confirming those details, or can't provide the required identification, please contact us. We can cancel your order and issue a full refund if you choose not to complete the verification process.
For additional information about the required documents, please see our ID Verification FAQ.
How does Badge & Wallet review submitted identification?
When you submit identification documents, we review them to ensure they match the information on your order.
This may include comparing names, photographs, and other identifying information, and looking for apparent discrepancies or signs of alteration.
Our review is based on the documentation submitted to us. We do not independently authenticate identification documents with the issuing agencies or confirm employment or authorization directly with those organizations as part of our standard screening process.
If additional information is needed, our ID Verification Team may contact you before releasing your order for production.
How does Badge & Wallet protect identification records?
We understand that identification documents contain sensitive personal information.
Submitted documents are maintained in secure systems with access restricted to authorized personnel and processes.
We generally keep verification records for up to two years to support future orders and meet applicable recordkeeping requirements. After about two years, we move records to a separate, more restricted archival storage environment.
Does Badge & Wallet verify identification for every order?
Badge & Wallet screens every badge order, but not every order requires ID verification.
The verification requirement depends on the badge's wording, design, and apparent official affiliation, as well as applicable company requirements.
Badge & Wallet may request additional documentation whenever necessary to establish authorization.
Why is this process important?
Official-looking badges can be mistaken for the ones issued by law enforcement agencies or other public institutions.
By screening badge orders, Badge & Wallet works to reduce the risk of unauthorized purchases while helping public safety professionals and government agencies obtain the badges they need.
