You can choose from eight metal finishes, standard lettering colors, block or Roman fonts, and more than 1,000 center seals. Any customization available in our online badge designer can be ordered without a minimum quantity or setup fee. Simply design your badge, add it to your cart, and check out!
We also offer more extensive customization options, including custom center seals, specialty finishes, and completely original badge designs. These projects may involve setup fees, minimum order quantities, or both.
Can I order just one custom police badge?
Yes! Our online badge designer allows you to customize more than 1,400 badge styles, including traditional shields, stars, oval badges, eagle-top designs, and many other styles.
Depending on the badge model, customization options include:
- Eight metal finishes, including gold, silver-colored, and combination finishes

Yes. Some customizations require additional artwork, tooling, or manufacturing processes that aren't included in our standard catalog program.
Examples include:
Custom center seals: If your organization wants to use a logo, crest, or other artwork in the center of the badge, we can develop a custom seal. A one-time setup fee may apply, depending on the quantity ordered.
Reverse enamel badges: Specialty designs that use enamel in recessed or background areas may require additional tooling or minimum quantities, depending on the design.
Fully custom badge designs: If you want a completely original badge shape or design rather than customizing one of our existing models, we offer manufacturing programs with their own development charges and minimum order requirements.

What is the minimum order for a completely original badge design?
For agencies commissioning an entirely new badge design, we offer Smith & Warren's BadgeStudio design and manufacturing program.
BadgeStudio includes professional design development, custom tooling, and the manufacture of a unique badge created specifically for your agency. The program requires an initial order of at least 50 badges, but future reorders have no minimum quantity.
This makes BadgeStudio particularly well suited to departments establishing a long-term badge program. Once your design is developed, you can order additional badges individually (no minimum) as officers are hired, promoted, or replaced.
Can I reorder just one badge in the future?
Yes! One of the advantages of our Smith & Warren badge program is that you can order a single replacement or additional badge whenever you need one.
This is particularly helpful for departments that hire or promote personnel throughout the year rather than purchasing all their badges at once.
